Car story

Scrap car parts sculpture circa early 1960's by artist John Chamberlain.

Colors from a recent vintage car show make a lovely fall palette...

Pondering fall

Going into fall, I'm a bit obsessed with this Amy Arbus photo of Madonna in NYC circa 1983.  Maybe it's how relevant the over-sized coat feels at the moment...
Raf Simon for Jil Sander - the cocoon coat

Loving Martin Cooper's collection for Belstaff...

spring

Little items from Pearl River Mart to get into the spring spirit...

...including five miniature sandalwood soaps for $1 - gotta love it!

nautical color

Such a great photoshoot from years ago...

Found myself exploring a boat yard on the Hudson river where sailboats patiently await warmer weather.  Blues and turquoise sit nicely with pops of orange.

outerwear

Outerwear on the brain as the fall shows continue...

This piece is inspired by a vintage French army jacket from a little shop deep in the Marais.
Some of the Wyeth paintings I've been thinking about since our excursion to the farm over the weekend.  Inspiring fodder for outerwear.

mixed media

I picked up this menswear vest at a thrift store.  There's such craftsmanship in the hand-sewn mixed print interior lining and worn contrast side seam panel - an interesting take on early mixed media.

This wood box purse is an Enid Collins from the 50's/60's with a full mirror inside for checking one's lipstick.  Love the weathered wood and missing beads.

winter's thaw

Wandering about the farm brought back memories of an old Andrew Wyeth coffee table book we had when I was little.
